ABSTRACT
The article reports that the Norwegian government has raised the estimate for the country's greenhouse gas emissions to 58.5 million tonnes in 2010, the highest ever level and 4.3 million tonnes more than in 2005. Norway agreed under the Kyoto Protocol to maintain emissions at 50.3 million tonnes for the period to 2012. The increase was put down to new gas-fired power plants in Karsto and Mongstad, higher oil production and a rise in road freight transport.
