ABSTRACT
The article reports that the Minnesota Department of Health has recommended against requiring the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine for teenage girl's attending schools in the state. Sanne Magnan, medical doctor and state health commissioner, said that mandating the vaccine as a requirement for school attendance is premature. The HPV vaccine prevents 70 percent of cervical cancers. Merck manufactures the drug. The Food and Drug Administration approved its use in 2006 for women ages nine to 26.
