Beyond Visual Literacy: Omniphasism, A Theory of Balance (Part One of Three)

The first part of this article integrates the author's original work with a synthesis of the work of major cognitive and visual scholars. The author develops a historical and contemporary theoretical basis for Intuitive Intelligence as the primary equal and complementary cognitive paradigm to our Rational Intelligence system. Further, the theory establishes Visual Intelligence as a primary Intuitive Intelligence. Omniphasism means "all in balance" and defines the concept that both Rational and Intuitive Intelligneces are equally significant to whole-mind cognitive development.
