The case Judge v. Crown Leisure Ltd. shows that employers should avoid telling employees that they will be given a promotion at the Christmas party unless you really mean it. In Ardyne Scaffolding Ltd. v. Rennie, the tribunal held that an employer may be sued for dismissing employees who came back a bit worse for wear from the Christmas lunch.
