ABSTRACT
The article reports on the initiative of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to review its "Guidelines for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims" or the Green Guides. The Green Guides focuses on claims regarding carbon offsets and renewable energy certificates. The FTC says that carbon offsets are credits or certificates representing the right to claim responsibility for greenhouse gas emission reductions. It is also mentioned that individuals and businesses aim to reduce their carbon footprints or make themselves carbon neutral by acquiring the greenhouse gas reduction credits.
