ABSTRACT
The article reports on the newly reached debt exchange agreements of Abitibi Consolidated with bondholders. The agreement was approved by about 90% of the bondholders that allows companies to pay back debt with more debts. According to Moody's Investors Service, about $86 billion of high yield corporate bonds and leveraged loans will mature between 2008 and 2010. It cites the factor that pushes company to do debt exchange.
