ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a study on Internet-related sex crimes involving children and teenagers. The study notes that the stereotype of the Internet paedophile is inaccurate as 99% of the victims of such crime were 13 to 17 years old. It adds that Internet-initiated sex crimes typically involved teenagers who are aware that they are meeting with adults for sex. It stresses that such crimes are considered as cases of statutory rape and not child molestation.
