The article focuses on the strategy of Vanguard Trailers to explore some new design elements to make trailers lighter and easier to build without compromising durability in the U.S. The director of engineering Mark Roush revealed that Vanguard used adhesives instead of rivets to construct the sidewalls of a 53-feet dry van prototype that allowed the company to speed up production time while lowering costs. The firm is also experimenting a new composite floor that would save 700 pounds.
