ABSTRACT
This article offers information regarding the National Staff Development Council's (NSDC) standards. It discusses how NSDC's Standards for Staff Development support a teacher to implement the learning communities standard. Staff development that enhances the learning of all students organizes adults into learning communities whose goals are aligned with those of the district and school. Principal support is essential to the success of learning communities as adults change from working in isolation to forming teams.
