ABSTRACT
The article presents a message from U.S. President George W. Bush to the U.S. Congress regarding the continuation of the national emergency with respect to Burma. The president announced that he sent a notice to the "Federal Register" stating the extension of the emergency beyond May 20, 2008. He said that he made such decision because of the continuing threat pose by the actions and policies of the Burmese government, including its repression of the democratic opposition in Burma, to U.S. national security and foreign policy.
