ABSTRACT
The article reports on the $5 billion losses incurred by five pension funds in New York City in nine months ending March 31, 2008. It states that the city will be faced with providing a bailout worth several billions of dollars if the plans do not recoup the losses by the end of the fiscal year. Included in the funds are the Teachers' Retirement System, and the Police Pension Fund.
