ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the plan of Lambda Legal civil rights organization to file a lawsuit against Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida on behalf of same-sex partner of patient Lisa Pond, Janice Langbehn, and her family in February 2008. Pond was pronounced brain dead after being stricken with a brain aneurysm in 2007. Langbehn and her family were consistently denied visitation and did not allow to see the patient until several hours after she was admitted. Lambda Legal Staff Attorney said the treatment received by the family was discriminatory.
