ABSTRACT
The article reveals the growth of sports web sites in 2008. Despite hosting a number of sporting events, these web sites have not yet shown a significant growth. Sport as a category only ranked 19th for fixed-line Internet users. More successful to them are mobile sites with sport attaining the third spot during the first quarter of the year. One reason for this weakening performance is that sport is losing its popularity to social media sites.
