Price gap widens between farm types

The article presents results of the Rural Survey from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. According to the survey, very strong demand for arable land, combined with only a modest increase in supply, lifted farmland values in England and Wales by another notch during the first half of 2008. However, the survey also indicated that the value of residential and commercial farm property were showing signs of parting company in the second half of 2007. The weighted average price of arable and pasture land increased to £12,965 per hectare.
