The article reports that Detroit, Michigan-based business enterprises are using networking sites and blogs to attract more customers. It is stated that small-business owners are expanding into social networking arenas, building online communities to attract customers, showcase offerings and test-market products. For Bethany Shorb, owner of the company Cyberoptix TieLab, Internet marketing allows a connection with her customer base in a way that adds value to the handmade ties she sells.
