The article discusses the hunger situation in East Africa, specifically in Ethiopia. The role of U.S. aid for food supplies and HIV/AIDS medicine is mentioned. Also discussed is a program launched in 2005 that would supply Ethiopians with employment so that they could afford to buy food grown by Ethiopian farmers instead of relying on free food from foreign aid.
