ABSTRACT
The article presents highlights from the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) during 2007 and 2008. Professional awards, literary awards, and scholarships presented by the association are discussed with particular focus given to the Light the Way grant, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Emerging Leaders project. Initiatives including a campaign to help children's librarians increase awareness of their services and collections and El día de los niños/El día de los libros, or Day of the Child/Day of the Book, are examined. Publications, continuing education, and bylaws changes are also discussed.
