The article reports on how oil companies as well as companies operating in other sectors in Africa are realizing that engaging with their host communities is good for business. It is stated that the oil industry attracts its fair share of detractors who blame it for a wide range of the world's problems, from high fuel prices to environmental degradation, global warming and high-level corruption.
