ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the use of geothermal energy. As of 2007, according to the International Energy Agency, geothermal energy provides less than 1% of the world's power. Google.org, HAS plans to donate $10.25m toward enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) technology for large-scale energy production via geothermal energy. But EGS, initially developed by the Los Alamos National Laboratories in the 1970s, is controversial as its power plants construction may negatively impact land stability.
