ABSTRACT
The article discusses post-operative complications after bariatric surgery. It notes that overweight surgical patients are at greater risk for hypoxemia in the postoperative period compared with normal weight individuals undergoing similar operations. It cites that obesity is an essential risk factor for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It states that rhabdomyolysis (RML) is considered as a potentially fatal postoperative complication in morbidly overweight surgical patients.
