The influences of structural dynamic characteristics of wind turbine with tip vane

Adding a vane to the blade's tip of Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT), it can improve the power output of the generator in some scales, and increase power coefficient. The paper performs experimental modal analysis in studying the influences of structural dynamic characteristics of static wind turbine with tip vane. Through measuring and analyzing the vibration spectrum of rotating wind turbine, the paper obtains its natural frequency in different rotate speed, and builds the dynamic frequency curve to study the influence of tip vane to the rotors. The experiment result shows that tip vane decreases the static frequency of wind turbine but increases the dynamic frequency through the centrifugal and pneumatic effects. Tip vane changes the trend of dynamic frequency curve. It can obviously improve the structural dynamic characteristics of wind turbine by tip vane.
