ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the design of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Janelia Farm Research Campus in Ashburn, Virginia, which was honored at the 19th biennial Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) Design Awards competition. The structure is said to follow the contours of the land by emerging on a hillside in a series of descending landscape terraces. It is made with reinforced concrete with a stringent vibration criteria for the high-resolution imaging facility and laboratories.
