Effect of Post-Tensioning on Tolerances

The article discusses the process of post-tension on concrete buildings, which causes movement of the building frame as the slab and beams shorten under the post-tensioning forces. It is said that in 1995, the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) has addressed the issue of slab movements because of post-tensioning. According to the CRSI report, the post-tensioning movement depends on the design, building geometry and layout of walls and columns. It is suggested that control lines should be rechecked after post-tensioning, and should be marked out from the layout to avoid confusion.
