ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the role played by poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the development of childhood obesity. It offers information on a study done to determine the prevalence of being overweight and obesity among children starting school in Augsburg, Germany to examine the influencing factors and develop a citywide prevention strategy. As per the study, of the girls, 8.7% were overweight and 4.4% were obese, while of the boys, 7.7% were overweight and 5.5% were obese.
