The article reports that the California Supreme Court has agreed to hear legal challenges to the Proposition 8 that limits marriage between man and woman. The National Center for Lesbian Rights, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Lambda Legal had filed a lawsuit challenging the validity of the initiative. Opponents said that it is an improper revision of the state constitution because it limits marriage right of a targeted minority. Racial minorities also believe that the initiative threatens the equal protection rights of all Californians.
