The article reports on the impact of economic downturn on gay community centers, cultural venues, and arts groups in the U.S. Several of the non-profit organizations, such as the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, have cut the number of their staff. The LGBT Community Center in New York eliminates vacant positions and decides to publish its monthly newsletter every other month to cut costs. The organizations state that the expanding economic turmoil has impacted their funding sources.
