This was revealed by New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, IMG Fashion and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Many big-name designers, including CFDA President Diane Von Furstenberg and Betsey Johnson, applauded the choice because of the venue's cultural association.
