The article reports that U.S. House and U.S. Senate negotiators on February 12, 2009, agreed to a compromise stimulus bill that includes spending on new and emerging screening technologies at airports and additional funding for the electronic border fence program as part of a $2.8 billion funding wedge for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The funding set aside for the DHS includes $1 billion for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.
