ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses partisanship in government and believes that disputes between the Republicans and the Democrats are essential to a healthy society. He is critical of how the political parties voted for the U.S. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, where zero Republicans voted for the stimulus bill, and all but 11 Democrats supported it. Also investigated is how U.S. President Barack Obama's longing for consensus is an example of partisanship.
