ABSTRACT
The article discusses the regulatory factors and prospects for oil and natural gas drilling and recovery in the eastern Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida. One law standing in the way is the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006. Two areas with known reserves are the Destin Dome and lease block 181.
