ABSTRACT
The article discusses the new way to drill and prepare a well ready for start-up to be used in the Pearl GTL project adopted by Royal Dutch Shell Plc in Qatar. It is noted that the technology reduces the total operation time to only 45 days per well, instead of 75 days. Shell has adopted the simultaneously performing perforation, stimulation, and clean up operations on previously drilled and completed wells (SIMOPS) concept as part of its partnership with Qatar Petroleum Co.
