ABSTRACT
The article discusses the installation of the first subsea system qualified at 20,000 pound per square inch (psi) system in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. It is noted that operators require completions for wells up to 20,000 psi due to exploring further offshore, drilling in deeper water and drilling to greater well depths. Meanwhile, a High Capacity 18 3/4-inch wellhead system rated to 20,000 psi has been introduced by FMC Technologies Inc.
