The article focuses on the effort of several organizations and state agencies to support and promote the benefits of breastfeeding in the U.S. It discusses the benefits of breastfeeding and cites several moves to advocate breastfeeding such as a national campaign on its health advantage organized by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). However, despite the national breastfeeding promotions, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding remains low and racial and socioeconomic disparities exits.
