ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of the Obama administration and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to leverage the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to make a big dent in the small business credit crunch in Puerto Rico. The author states that the stimulus package provides SBA with $375 million to temporarily eliminate loan fees and raise guarantees up to 90%. Moreover, the stimulus package allows SBA to double the amount it can offer for SBA-backed surety bonds up to $5 million.
