ABSTRACT
The article discusses a court case wherein the defendants Theodore J. Briseno, Stacey C. Koon, Laurence M. Powell, and Timothy E. Wind, Los Angeles, California police officers were charged with assault, excessive force by a police officer, and filing false report in first trial and violating civil rights in second trial. The charges were based on the incident involving the motorist Rodney King in March 3, 1991. Judge Stanley M. Weisberg held the first trial not guilty while Judge John G. Davies held the second trial guilty for Koon and Powell.
