ABSTRACT
The article suggests the need by the renewable heat sector in Great Britain for an obligation that is similar to that for electricity if it is to fulfil its potential for combating climate change. Renewable heat reportedly accounts for almost half of the total energy demand and carbon dioxide emissions in Great Britain, and reducing emissions from the generation of heat is necessary to prevent climate change. Information on a tariff system for renewable heat introduced by the Renewable Energy Association (REA) is provided.
