ABSTRACT
This is an evaluation study of the effectiveness of curriculum applications based on constructivist approaches in teacher education. In this study, experimental and control groups were used compared to determine whether there were meaningful differences in terms of achievement, retention and attitudes or not. In addition, it is examined the results of students' authentic evaluation in the experimental group and the relationships among them. In this study, an experimental research design, including pre and post tests, is applied. 67 teacher candidates from the department of science teaching participated in this study. To gather data, multiple selection tests, essay tests, attitude scale and group evaluation forms were used. It was found that, the experimental group's pre and post test and essay test scores were higher than the control group's test results. Further, the results of attitudes of the students in the experimental group toward the learning environment were higher than the control groups' results. It was also found that the results of authentic evaluation were quite high and there were positive and meaningful relationships among these results. However, there were no meaningful relationships between the results of multiple selection tests and authentic evaluation.
