ABSTRACT
The article reports on the move of U.S. President Barack Obama to increase the funding he proposes for high-speed rail development in the federal budget. It states that a $5 billion funding over five years will be allocated to rail projects in addition to the $8 billion that the Congress already approved for the nation's economic stimulus package. Moreover, the goal of creating new jobs is added to Obama administration proposal for rail funding.
