ABSTRACT
The article presents a summary of political and economic developments in Southeast Asia in 2008. Among the events discussed is the devastation in Burma due to Cyclone Nargis, the global financial crisis and developments in the regional organization ASEAN. Political crises in Malaysia and Thailand are examined.
