ABSTRACT
The article reports that the U.S. Department of Education has approved Texas' alternate assessment process designed to assess content knowledge of students with disabilities. The process is the first to be approved by the department. Under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), only two percent of proficient scores may be factored into NCLB adequate yearly progress measurements.
