ABSTRACT
The article reports that K-12 schools across the U.S. would get a break under the bill, Save our Schools (S.O.S.) Act, that would abolish testing provisions in the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). The bill would establish a moratorium on the assessment standards used by each of the 50 states. The bill's sponsor Joe Baca said it would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to remove all mandated testing provisions, freeing school districts and teachers from teaching to the test culture.
