ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the tax incentives that will help industries wanting to generate electricity from wind, sunlight, biomass and gravitational water forces start with their projects in South Africa (SA). The SA Income Tax Act helps taxpayers who want to start a project qualify for an accelerated depreciation allowance to buy equipment that is strictly used for generating electricity. The allowance aims to help technologies with the initial costs which is their biggest deterrent.
