ABSTRACT
The articles discusses the politics of poverty in the U.S. The author notes that U.S. politicians have no clear agenda about the poorest Americans. He believes that though the issue of poverty was addressed explicitly by former U.S. Senator John Edwards, President Barack Obama's administration must assume the anti-poverty mantle. Administration officials argue that the anti-poverty agenda is only part of big priorities such as health care reform. Edwards believes that Obama has the will to stand up for the poor Americans and deal with the consequences.
