ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the challenges in developing the energy technology in the U.S. It explores several challenges that entangle the country's innovation system, particularly the fossil fuels imbedded in the economy and political system, making it hard for new technologies to enter into the market. It suggests the need for innovation policies to be technology-neutral so that technological alternatives can compete on their own technoeconomic virtues. It also highlights the significance of the energy stimulus package from the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama in accelerating innovations.
