ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the need to use Information Technology (IT) by banks and financial services companies to promote technological innovation rather than concentrate only on cost cutting. According to Peter Redshaw, vice president of analyst group Gartner, innovation is essential to firms for economic recovery and IT is a way to introduce innovative services and retain customers. Research by Gartner of banks worldwide in May 2009, shows some important innovation goals.
