ABSTRACT
The article reports on the call of European Union (EU) Farm Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel for a serious thought to be given to the making of an insurance scheme in Brussels , Belgium. The Fischer Boel approach would see the fund applied for emergency situations, such as collapse of prices. The insurance scheme could function commercially, or by farmers who use cooperatives.
