ABSTRACT
The article reports that the State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs) is aiming to cover more low-income Medicare beneficiaries, through the funds granted by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The SHIPs have received 6.3 million dollars to outreach the beneficiaries in 2009. SHIPs reportedly reached 5.2 million beneficiaries in 2008 and have received increased funding from the CMS to conduct community-based programs, to target at reaching more beneficiaries.
