ABSTRACT
The author discusses the implications of the results of the 2008 sex survey conducted by the periodical "India Today." He points out that respondents failed to obtain clarification about what the question in such surveys means. He stresses the importance of such sexual practices as adultery and nonconsensual sex to the anthropological study of sexuality and intimacy in the country. He cites key findings of the surveys including the 74% of respondents who do not approve of adultery.
