ABSTRACT
The article reports on the launch of the Copy Protection Awareness Icon created by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) in the U.S. It notes that the icon is intended for incorporation of DVD artwork with the existing informational logos for other technical specifications. It will be available for voluntary inclusion on DVD packaging, enabling consumers to know if they are buying or renting a copy-protected disc.
