ABSTRACT
The article discusses how hospital access staff can reduce patients' tension over long waits at emergency departments (EDs). According to Amy M. Kirkland from a hospital in South Carolina, patients feel that hospitals are not concerned about their care but only about money and access staff should perform their job duties in a kind manner. It is suggested that payment may be collected from a patient when he has been assessed by a physician.
